TUNBRIDGE WELLS FAIRTRADE TOWN GROUP
"Let justice roll on like a river, righteousness like a never-failing stream" Amos 5:24
Fairtrade Fortnight 2015 - Fairtrade Banana Event We were proud to establish new partnerships with Soroptimist International and Girlguiding for their Fairtrade Banana Event at the start of Fairtrade Fortnight. The event took place in the foyer of Christ Church, Tunbridge Wells, and attractions included a wish tree, specially printed recipe books and free bananas generously donated by Fyffes. Fairtrade Fortnight 2015 - Fairtrade Wine Tasting Our second event of Fairtrade Fortnight was a Fairtrade wine tasting very generously hosted by The Co-operative , whose expert oenologist brought along a sel ection of excellent and inexpensive wines from South Africa and Chile. As well as introducing the assembled company to the basics of wine tasting, the session unearthed some fascinating details about the processes of winemaking, such as how the South African grapes were harvested by moonlight because the cooler nocturnal conditions give rise to superior wine. Fairtrade Flagship Employer AXA PPP Healthcare became the Fairtrade Flagship Employer for Tunbridge Wells. More and more companies and organisations realise the important role they can play in promoting Fairtrade values in the workplace, and we were very pleased to announce that AXA PPP had been designated the Flagship Fairtrade employer in Tunbridge Wells. In a ceremony at the Town Hall on March 3rd, Deputy Mayor David Elliot presented Dave Clark AXA PPP Operations Director with their Flagship Employer certificate in the presence of Michael Jary, Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Fairtrade Foundation. Michael gave a really inspiring speech at the presentation.
