TUNBRIDGE WELLS FAIRTRADE TOWN GROUP
"Let justice roll on like a river, righteousness like a never-failing stream" Amos 5:24
Fairtrade Fortnight 2011 - Show off your label Calverley Precinct was once again awash with colour as Tunbridge Wells celebrated Fairtrade fortnight 2011. Students from twenty local schools spent Fairtrade Fortnight painting their own Fairtrade cotton flags. These were put together ‘bunting style’ to create a community art installation in the center of Tunbridge Wells. The theme for Fairtrade Fortnight was ‘Show Off Your Label’ and we encouraged schools to ‘get loud and proud’ about Fairtrade’. They did just that. Their brightly colored designer bunting represented just a few of the 3000 Fairtrade goods now available. Fairtrade Town status is renewed! In 2011 the Fairtrade Town Group celebrated the successful renewal of the town's Fairtrade Status and presented the certificate to the Leader of the Council, Cllr Atwood.
