Fairtrade Fortnight 2012 - Take a step for
Fairtrade
Our
2012
community
art
installation
for
World
Fair
Trade
Day
was
titled
‘Take
a
Step
for
Fairtrade’,
and
celebrated
the
benefits
that
Fairtrade
brings
to
farmers
across
the
world.
Over
1000
students
from
local
schools
contributed
to
the
project.
Each
student
was
asked
to
trace
the
outline
of
one
of
their
feet
and
then
complete
the
image
with
their
own
design.
The
resulting
artwork
was
printed
onto
vinyl
and
fixed
to
the
paving
blocks
of
Fiveways
in
the
centre
of
Tunbridge
Wells.
If
you
walked
to
the
centre
of
the
spiral
you
would
hear
music
specially
written
and
performed
for
the
project,
again
by
local students.
K College Freshers' Fair
We
attended
the
K
College
Tonbridge
Freshers'
Fair
in
September
2012,
speaking
to
students
about
Fairtrade
and
explaining
how
they
could
be
a
part
of
our
Fairtrade
events.
Participation
in
Fairtrade
events
can
give
students
valuable
work
experience
and
a
reference
for
their
portfolios,
plus
the
knowledge
that
they
have
helped
a
valuable cause for ethical production
.
