Fairtrade
Fortnight
2007
-
The
Chocolate
Project
2007
marked
the
200th
anniversary
of
the
abolition
of
the
slave
trade
in
the
British
Empire.
Sadly
there
is
a
huge
body
of
evidence
that
slavery
still
exists
today
in
various
forms,
not
least
in
the
production
of
cocoa
products.
For
Fairtrade
Fortnight,
schools
all
over
town
created
multi-coloured
eggs
to
create
a
community
art
installation
in
the
centre
of Tunbridge Wells.
Official certificate of Fairtrade Town
status
Mayor,
Mr
Ron
Weeden
received
a
certificate
on
behalf
of
the
people
of
Tunbridge
Wells
marking
out
the
town’s
newly
achieved
Fairtrade
Town
status.
This
was
a
fantastic
step,
supported
by
the
Borough
Council, schools, businesses and the people of Tunbridge Wells.
